Episode 6

On a windy day, my daughter who, at the time, was four years old, brought a balloon outside. When, inevitably, the balloon was carried away by a particularly powerful gust, she tearfully cried, “It flew up to space ever!”

(´°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥ д °̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥`)

It was a memorable moment. My husband and I still talk about it from time to time. She is ten years old now, but every once in a while, she’ll mention that balloon with a tinge of sadness in her voice,

“Remember my balloon?”

Maybe one day she’ll read this episode and smile a little at the memory of her lost balloon, traveler of the cosmos.

Girigiri’ is taken from the Japanese ぎりぎり, which means “barely”, “nearly not” or “almost”.

The title was chosen because, honestly, it sounds cute and fits the vibe of a plain rice ball.
