Episode 1

Welcome to GiriGiri Onigiri! We’re so happy to see you.

We started this series with little on our minds but cute snacks and maybe a little bit of chuckles somewhere down the line.

What is there to say? Anyhow, we will do our best. (‘‘^_^)

Will you feel better after reading it, maybe?

Note: Onigiri are snacks or meals made from rice and nori (dried seaweed) and are easily recognizable all over the world as Japanese cuisine, maybe because it reminds us of sushi. Although versatile (onigiri can have various fillings or toppings), onigiri are often seen as very simple and unremarkable. This Japanese staple is easily accessible because of its low cost as well as its availability in nearly every konbini (convenience store).

Girigiri’ is taken from the Japanese ぎりぎり, which means “barely”, “nearly not” or “almost”. The title was chosen because, honestly, it sounds cute and fits the vibe of a plain rice ball.
