Episode 2

When you start something new, whether it’s good, bad or ordinary, it’s inevitable that you feel a bit unsure about it.

Nuance aside, I hope you have a good voice inside of your head telling you that you’re pretty worthwhile.

Note: Shōyu = soy sauce

Note: Onigiri are snacks or meals made from rice and nori (dried seaweed) and are easily recognizable all over the world as Japanese cuisine, maybe because it reminds us of sushi. Although versatile (onigiri can have various fillings or toppings), onigiri are often seen as very simple and unremarkable. This Japanese staple is easily accessible because of its low cost as well as its availability in nearly every konbini (convenience store).

Girigiri’ is taken from the Japanese ぎりぎり, which means “barely”, “nearly not” or “almost”. The title was chosen because, honestly, it sounds cute and fits the vibe of a plain rice ball.
